Update: 2019 Word of the Year Challenge

Updated: Mar 13, 2019

We’ve got our words -SO EXCITED!

Leslie - “EXPECTATION”

I recently read a book called, “Start with Amen: How I Learned to Surrender by Keeping the End in Mind”, by Beth Guckenberger. It talks about how if we begin our prayers with Amen instead of using it as our closing statement, we are putting ourselves in a posture of belief and expectation that God is already working, and that we can trust that He is sovereign and knows best. I’ve been working to remember to start all prayers from that posture since then and it has brought me so much peace and confidence that God is for me, and He is always working on my behalf.

With that in mind I have chosen the word “EXPECTATION” for my 2019 word of the year, along with the scripture, “For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is in Him.” (Psalm 62:5) I am choosing to put myself in a position of expecting God’s provision to show itself. I plan to approach all of my relationships, projects, challenges, self-care goals, all of it from a place of knowing that God knows me best, and knows my needs and dreams and desires, and He is fully able and willing to bless me with His goodness and care. So there you go ladies, I’m walking into 2019 with full expectation that God is going to do great things!! Let’s GO!!!

Sharon - “DREAM”

At the beginning of 2018 I sadly let go of a passion that I thought was my lifelong mission. As I grieved this loss I had no vision in sight of my future service to God. I was literally staring at a blank page. When I fully surrendered to God and allowed Him to close that door, something else started to stir within me. I realized I didn’t have any dreams or goals. I felt like I was just going with the flow. When I turned 50 in June, I made a promise with God that I would serve Him wholeheartedly, doing whatever He desired. Then God started planting multiple dreams and desires within my heart, one of which is this blog.

My word for 2019 is “DREAM”. I am going to dedicate this year to unleash these God-given dreams. I know it is not going to be an easy journey, but I am so excited. My bible verse is Matthew 6:33, “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” This is how I will push through the hard spots, seeking Him first. I can’t wait to reveal each dream to you as the year unfolds. I bought my journal and will work on my cover over Christmas break. 1,2,3 JUMP!

We are so thankful to start 2019 with you! We are EXPECTING great things for each and every one of you. Thank you for posting your words, keep’em coming! Please post pics of your journals too! As the year progresses we will check-in with you and ask how God is working. Thank you for sharing in this DREAM with us!

Merry Christmas!

Love,

Leslie and Sharon
