8 Steps to Affirm God's Promises in Your Life

Updated: Apr 7

I finally had an opportunity to sit down and work on my “Powersheets” or in other words, my goals for 2021. I forgot how empowering it is not only to clarify my goals and dreams for the year but how affirming the process is. Once my goals are written out, I plan my month with small steps in achieving those goals. As part of this practice, at the beginning of every month, I pick a positive affirmation to focus on for 30 days. Before we get into that, what exactly is a “positive affirmation”.

A positive affirmation is a word or statement that can help you to challenge and overcome self-sabotaging and negative thoughts. When repeated often and you believe in them, you can start to make positive changes.

Affirmations fall under a form of nourishing self-care. This practice has been a huge help to me with my “stinkin’ thinkin”. These affirmations have also helped me with my fears and anxieties as well as my low self-esteem, my identity crisis.

I have always used scripture as my go-to statements, Christian Affirmations rooted in God’s Word. Scripture tells us we are to be “transformed by the renewing of our mind.” (Romans 12:2) God does the transforming but we need to call out the lie and exchange them for God’s truth. This helps me to focus back on the promises of God and what He says about me. Not what I say about myself or how others define me.

Let me share my very simple process of choosing an affirmation statement for the month.

  1. I pick out 12 Biblical promises by googling words or phrases I am looking to achieve for the year.

  2. I personalize them by inserting the words I or My.

  3. I write them out on 12 separate pieces of paper. I write the affirmation with the scripture and then leave space to journal the question, “How does this speak to me in my current season of life?”

  4. I shuffle the deck, so to speak, pray and pick one for the current month.

  5. I tape the piece of paper to the beginning of the month in my planner.

  6. I then write the affirmation at the top of the month and week-at-a-glance, as well as in my goal planner.

  7. When I am using my Powersheets or looking at my monthly calendar or weekly calendar, my affirmation is right before my eyes. I verbally read the affirmation out loud, usually every day.

  8. At the end of the month, I go back to my original paper and answer my journal question. I can’t believe how in a month that little affirmation has spoken volumes into my life!

My affirmation for April is this….

I am His delight, not a disappointment. (Genesis 1:31, Psalm 149:4, Psalm 18:19 and Matthew 17:5)

You can start this process at any time, even in the middle of the month! Extend yourself some GRACE! It’s never too late to start. We have started the process for you. Click here and you will be re-directed to our website to find under resources, “Who I am in Christ” and “Christian Affirmations”.

I pray as you begin to verbally recite who you are in Christ and all that God has promised you as His Princess Daughter, your mind will not only be transformed, but you will start to live out your Royal Destiny. You will be bold and courageous as you live for Jesus daily, following your dreams and impacting your sphere of influence. I am committing to pray for you, intentionally these next 30 days, from April 7th to May 7th. At the end of the 30 days, circle back and answer the question, “How does this speak to me in my current season of life?” Drop us a comment and let us know how it went.

God promises in Isaiah 55:11, His word does not return void.

My affirmation to you…..You are a beautiful Daughter of the King,

Much love,
